My ‘lightbulb’ moment.

My ‘lightbulb’ moment.

Have you ever had one of those ‘wow’ moments in life, a light bulb moment, one of those moments when you go ah ha, yes, that’s it!

I’m sure that you have, they don’t happen very often but when they do they can be life changing. I had one of those moments years ago that led me down the path of study, achievement and a dramatic shift in my life. Ultimately, it led me to questioning myself, to challenging myself and to realising what I was capable of. I guess it also led to a few dramas in my life including getting caught up in the Nepal earthquake last year.

Well, a couple of months ago, I had another one of those ‘moments,’ one of those moments in time that you just know, if you go with it, things are going to change, move forward and open up a whole new set of experiences.

Stop the waffle you say, what the hell am I talking about?

I was in the same spot that I’d been in all those years ago, things were okay, things were good but ….. there was something that just wasn’t there and I couldn’t even have told you what.

Then, one morning I was listening to a podcast, I’m not really sure even which one it was, but one of the women on there said ‘I’m a Life Coach’ and something clicked within me during that talk, I think I actually said ‘ah ha’ to myself. This was something I’ve done informally for ages now, why not build a business around it.

So, I did the whole Google thing, researched the hell out of Life Coaching, and I found that I could do a proper course and gain a Cert IV in Life Coaching.

I enrolled!

I’m one of those weird people who love to study, I’ve got my zing back and I’ve found a future career that I’m passionate about. I have to be patient though, I have to spend the rest of the year gaining my qualification, setting up my business, networking and marketing, but I know I can do it.

And I know I’ve got you people out there to encourage me and to spur me on.

But, first things first. As part of my course I need to do a research project, I’ve chosen my subject – I’ll be looking at the perception of Life Coaching today, I’m interested to know what different people think about the whole concept of Life Coaching and whether there are demographic or geographic divides in that thinking. I’ve put together a short survey and I’m really hoping that you’ll all help me out by heading over to it here and completing it. It’ll only take you a couple of minutes and it’ll really help me out in my research. If you could get friends and relatives to complete it also that would be awesome.

All of this research and study and setting up a new business won’t mean that I’m not going to be adventuring, but it may mean that I need to slow it down for a while. There’ll still be weekend jaunts and some day hikes and I’ll still try and update you as much as I can.

Wish me luck.

Pam

  3. I would think that you would make a very good life coach knowing how your travels around the world have inspired other women. I actually worked with a life coach once a few years ago who was studying like you. She was fantastic and really got me through a hard patch in my life. :)
